Ella's new playhouse

I made a playhouse cover to go over Granny B's card table.  I used scraps of material I already had and an old sheet set that wouldn't stay on the bed.  Word of advice....never buy microfiber sheets...they slip and slide and don't stay on.  I put a lantern inside and Ella really likes playing inside of it.  A lady on Etsy makes really cute ones but sells them for $200.  Ella has already pulled off two of the pom poms (because, well, that's what she does....she destroys things), so I'm really glad I didn't pay $200 for it!

The funnest word to say is........

One of the funnest words to say in the James family is "AbbyJon".  I don't remember if Maddie or Jordan started it, but now it is one of Ella's words.  You can't really hear her very well in this video, but she says she is talking to AbbyJon.  We certainly love our AbbyJon!!

Ella was too quiet for too long!!

Ella was playing (I thought in her room) and then I started to hear water trickling.  I went into the bathroom and found her wadding up toilet paper and tissues and "cleaning the sink" with them.  The water in the sink was overflowing and the floor was drenched.  Hopefully the water didn't do any permanent damage!

Ella combing Mommy's hair

Ella loves to comb your hair, play with your hair, spray your hair, etc.  This morning I had just taken off her p.j.'s to get her dressed and we were playing on the floor.  She started saying, "hair, hair" and ran into my bathroom to get a comb.  She then came out and started "doing" my hair.  I am pretty sure she will be a hairdresser when she grows up....of course she will have to wear more than just a diaper when she goes to work!

Prom 2011

We did the amazing race again this year for prom.  There were 5 teams of 4.  The challenges were: 1. Go to Hooper Cemetary and find 3 gravestones with the names Paulsen, Fowers and Murphy.  Then do a grave rubbing on paper.  2. Go to Kristen's house and taste 6 items (seaweed, capers, french fried onions, mint leaves, spicy green beans and kiwi).  They had to get 50% correct to move on.  3.  Go to Kents and find the Junior High girls with toilet paper, diapers and chili in their cart (Hannah and Jaycee hung out at Kents).  Then they had to tell the girls the phrase "I think I'm going to poop my pants, can I have some toilet paper". 4. Go to Scott and Holly's and set up a tent and eat smores without using your hands.  5.  Go to Jennies house and out of all the pink ribbons tied around the yard, find the one ribbon that had a black dot on it. Then they came back to our house and received a scavenger hunt paper.  The first team back won.  It went really well and the winners received a $5 gift card to Subway.  After the race they went home and got ready and then all met back at our house for pictures.  We then had 12 couples AND the moms in our basement taking pictures.  After the dance they came back to our house AGAIN and watched Prom night.  I fell asleep, but I am pretty sure everyone was out by 2 a.m. The bad thing was it was daylight savings time which meant that everyone left around 3 a.m.

Ella playing with her stuffed animal

Ella loves to play hide and seek.  She also likes to wrap up her babies and puppies in a blanket.  I bought her this dress and it had a matching dress for a doll.

Homage dinner to mom

I am feeling very nostalgic today and decided to make a dinner to honor my mom and grandma.  I put a roast in the crock pot, made chocolate layered desert, orange/lemon pudding, green beans from a can and am making homemade rolls....granny b's recipe.  Ella has helped me out by licking the beaters and the spatula...a first for her.  Thank you mom and grandma for being good cooks and setting a good example for me to follow!  I miss you both!!!!!

Chris had shoulder surgery

Chris had a one inch tear repaired, a bone spur cleaned off, a bicep tendon reattached and some arthritis cleaned out.  Hopefully after he heals he will be able to be pain free!
